Icon written for the Centenary of our Monastery to express what drives us.

The Centenary icon delivers in a glance all our vocation, in our world of today. To draw the Life of God, to draw the Spirit from the very Source: the pierced Heart of Jesus Crucified. This icon also shows the true face of the Crucifixion. This icon also shows the true face of the Crucifixion. From the very heart of the Cross, from pain and death, springs the Resurrection. It is a birth of glory and eternal glory. What is invisible to our carnal and external gaze, the icon shows it to our spiritual and internal gaze.This gushing source of life, of glory, of light and of freedom is found there, at the heart of this mystery of the Crucified, glorious and victorious.As the Crucified of Good Friday was Jesus and Mary together, the bridegroom and the bride together, the son and us together, so the Crucified of Easter is also Jesus and Mary together and here we are at the heart of the secret of God. The door to the Kingdom is narrow. But it is also from there that the Spirit and the Truth flow, given to him who looks and sees.

"I will pour out the Spirit of grace and supplication on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and they will look upon Him whom they have pierced." Zechariah 12, 10.
