One of Christ's 12 apostles, Philip was from Bethsaida in Galilee, like Andrew and his brother Peter. John the Baptist, who was in Bethany with two of his disciples, said to them when he saw Jesus, "This is the Lamb of God."
The two disciples followed Jesus, one of them Andrew, the second probably Philip. During the miracle of the multiplication of the loaves, it was he who pointed out that five thousand people could not be fed with so little bread.
He preached the Gospel in Phrygia and is said to have died crucified in Hieropolis around the year 63.
